Student Wins 2025 UAAA Global Cup Abacus Championship

We are overjoyed to announce that Mattia, our exceptional Year 9 student from Maiden Erlegh School in Reading, has triumphed at the 2025 UAAA Global Cup Abacus Mental Arithmetic Championship held on 19 January 2025, at the Pacific Palms Resort in California. His outstanding performance in solving complex mathematical problems has earned him the championship title, further establishing his position as a leading young figure in the world of mental mathematics.

The UAAA Global Cup is a highly esteemed international competition that gathers the brightest young minds from around the globe to showcase their skills in mental arithmetic and abacus techniques. Participants are challenged to solve intricate mathematical problems with speed and precision, highlighting their exceptional cognitive abilities.

Mattia's remarkable achievement is a testament to his unwavering dedication, hard work, and passion for mathematics. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and the honour he has brought to our school community.

Additionally, Mattia's linguistic abilities further highlight his exceptional skills. He speaks five languages fluently: English, Georgian, Macedonian, Italian, and Chinese. He is also currently enrolled in a pre-IGCSE class, and in May, he will be examined for the B2 level (HSK4) of Chinese.
