Over the past few years there has been significant changes to the structure of GCSEs and the way in which schools are measured.

Maiden Erlegh School in Reading has designed two handouts which we hope will help you to understand the impact of these on your child. They include the subjects affected and the grading of GCSEs.

The GCSEs which will be examined on the new specifications are outlined below according to the year groups affected. All other subjects will be taught on the current specification.

Year 11:

English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Sciences, Modern Languages, History, Geography, Computer Science, Art and Design, D&T subjects, Drama, PE, Music and Religious Studies.

All other years:

All subjects.

Information about these GCSE changes can be found below.

The measurement of school performance is moving away from 5 A*-C including English and Maths to Attainment 8 and Progress 8. Information about these measures can be found below.

If you have any questions about the changes, please contact Mrs S Elliss, Deputy Headteacher.
